Honor Societies

The Pierian National Honor Society is the most prestigious and respected organization at Leon High School. Nominations are based on academic excellence and teacher recommendations. The society prides itself on community service and giving back. I was accepted into the society during my Sophomore Year. My focus of participation includes tutoring in math and science, especially chemistry and geometry. Through Pierian, I’ve had the opportunity to network with other motivated students and some have even volunteered with me on SMART. Another academic achievement is the five years I’ve been a member of Rebus Gestis—our local chapter of The Latin National Honor Society. We participate in the Regional Latin Competition and achieved first place four times. This year, we won with an emphasis on art and culture. A photo of me in my Janus costume is my dad’s favorite–he uses it on his phone as caller ID for me.

Janus’ face looked both to the past and forward to the future. He was the god of transitions such as from the past to the future, from one vision on to the next vision, and most apropos, the transition from young to adulthood.
